Check Out Guidelines

Students in kindergarten may check out 2 books at a time.
- Students in 1st-5th grade may check out up to 5 items at a time and may include magazines, books, DVDs, or videotapes.
- Students may not check out new books if they have any books overdue. (We want our students to be responsible for the materials they have) If a student has any overdue items, he/she will receive a notice with the title, the date it was checked out,the date it was due, and the cost of the item should it need to be replaced. We do not charge daily fines.
- Students may come to the library every day if they so desire.
- Students may recheck materials if they wish to keep them for an additional week. We must have the actual library item in order to renew it.
- If a library resource is lost or damaged, the student will receive a letter indicating the price of the item. Parents or students may take care of the cost with a check or cash; a receipt will be issued. If the lost item is located and returned to the LC LMC, we will initiate a refund. Our circulation system keeps track of all these lost/paid resources and will alert us when one is found and a patron needs to be refunded.
- Do you need to know what items your child has checked out? If you need to know immediately, you can always call directly to the LMC at 736.5438. Once a week you will receive an overdue notice listing items checked out and due more than 1 week ago. Students in Grades 3-5 may check My Info on the online library catalog (OPAC) whenever they come into the LMC so that they will know how many books they are allowed to check out. Students can also use My Info at home by accessing OPAC from the Library web page.
